Let’s take this journey together, friends. Let’s talk about how we navigate the rollercoaster known as a Christian life. It’s not always an easy trip. It can be like trying to climb a mountain barefoot or traversing a dense jungle filled with pitfalls and vicious little bugs. But, oh boy, is it worth it?

Living the Christian Life

Living the Christian life is a bit like learning a new language. We have to understand and put into practice the teachings found in the Bible. It’s about aligning our actions, thoughts, and feelings with those teachings—kind of like attempting to walk a tightrope while balancing a basket full of eggs on your head.

But don’t fret, my dear; remember this lovely verse from Proverbs 3:5–6.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Ah, sweet reassurance, right? God’s got our backs.

Challenges of Abiding in the Christian Life

Temptation

Here’s a biggie! Temptation is one thorny bush that can prick even the most pious. The pull towards worldly desires and contradictions can make our knees go weak, and our resolve crumble as easily as a homemade cookie.

But don’t worry, I’ve got another Bible verse to cheer us up, 1 Corinthians 10:13,

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

Doubt

Doubt can sneak up on us even when our faith seems rock solid. It’s insidious and can create a chasm between us and our faith.

Dear reader, Have you ever been in a situation where you’re looking up at the sky and questioning, “What’re you up to, big guy?” If yes, then you’re familiar with the murky land of doubts. Take comfort from this verse, Psalm 94:19:

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”

Persecution

Even in today’s global village, Christians face increasing persecution around the world. These situations can test our tenacity and make us question how much abuse we can endure for the sake of the cross.

Take heart, fellow pilgrims. The Bible offers encouragement here as well, with Matthew 5:10 saying,

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

A Continuous Growth in Our Relationship with God

Like nurturing any relationship, this requires time, patience, love, and open communication.

Remember those blissful days of falling in love, when we were willing to go to any length to please our sweetheart? Let’s channel that energy into our relationship with God. Try to spend more time reading the Bible, praying, being a part of a community, and walking the talk.
